Have you ever had a friend who always “had it together”?
No smudged mascara, no wrinkled clothes, just a fresh-faced gal that always seemed a couple steps ahead of the pack?
In my younger years, I had one of those, too.
- She knew how to speak French fluently.
- Her car was always spotless.
- With zero horseback riding experience, she joined the equestrian team in college.
One time when we were getting ready to go out for dinner, she shared her top beauty secret. In true 90s fashion, she showed me that after you put on lipstick, you could dab a touch of white eye shadow in the middle of your lips. Finish it off with a little gloss, and presto, you have sparkly lips.
My 19 year old self, felt like she had given me the keys to the kingdom.
And many years later, it is my turn to pass on a a few little secrets onto you.
Although Facebook is still king of the social media platforms, over the years, its audience tends to be older. Are your kids old enough to tell you that “Facebook is for old people?”
So I have been using Instagram more for my business, and have been watching the impact for my clients. It is becoming easier than ever to create interesting content for Instagram through their Stories.
This is where my hot tips come in for a landing:)
Here are three tips to help you engage with your Instagram audience. It is really a tremendous opportunity if your target market hangs out there.
1. If you are creating Instagram stories, you can add in hashtags that no one sees.
This is helpful for the discovery feature, and allows your content to be seen by a wider audience.
Add in your hashtags, then reduce the size of the font by pinching your fingers on the screen until you can’t see the hashtags any longer.
As tiny as a needle point.
2. If you have done Instagram stories, you know that sometimes you don’t want to ‘get polished’ before you hit record, but you also don’t want to look haggard if you just finished a long run!
So instead of worrying about the pet face filters, try Instagram “secret” filters. The best one on planet earth is “Paris.”
To access it, go to caption the Insta Story, but then just swipe left. You will see Paris pop up.
Easy.
3. My very last piece of advice for Instagram Stories is to add captions. Even if you are not captioning exactly what you are saying, it gives people a chance to know if they want to stick around.
If you have not been using Instagram Stories, I encourage you to give it a shot. It can actually be a ton of fun.
Warmly,
Amy
