This week I am working with a client on a new email marketing campaign. Frankly, I am enjoying the heck out of it because it is a list that has been previously neglected.
Like a box of old Christmas ornaments forgotten in the corner of the attic, it is fun to dust it off a bit and watch it shine on a tree.
It’s fun to see what it could be.
While working with this client, the question we are asking ourselves over and over again is…
How can we deliver value to these people every single week?
Could we give them something that would make their lives easier?
What would make a difference?
What a different mindset shift that is from most email marketing?! While most inboxes are cluttered with sales-only messages, imagine what you could do through your marketing if you set out to serve your followers first.
Let’s say you are on board for this, “Yes, Amy, I am ready to deliver value! I want to serve my prospects and clients…But how?”
Well each business and audience is different, so let me give you some examples that could be created as pdfs, videos, articles or social media posts. For a Skincare Business → Provide value by sharing beauty-related tips and ideas (make-up tips), mask recipes, self-care routines to nourish your body.
For a Real Estate Business → Provide recommendations for local service providers (electricians, plumbers, handyman, renovation companies). Provide information about local events, post routine market reports, share what buyers are looking for right now in specific markets.
Just yesterday a local photographer who specializes in business photography sent 15 free flat lay images to her list. As a business owner who creates content for social media, this was a treat!
How could you apply this to your own business?
You might be thinking that you like this idea, but it sounds a bit time-consuming?! You are probably right. Creating really good content is not cheap for your time or if you are outsourcing this.
But this is your competitive advantage!
So start asking yourself how you could allocate your resources to make this work for you. If you are confused about this, and want a little clarity for your business, hit reply and I am happy to help you work through this.
