You know you’re not doing what you should be to market your business on social media. And worse…a couple of your competitors seem to be rocking it on social media. Their fans, followers and engagement are all high.
But you can’t seem to find consistency with your message, and when you or your team tries, it seems like no one cares. Ugh!
We have all been there, and clients come to me frequently with this exact problem. Here is an exercise that I use to create focused, consistent content if you are stuck.
Create themes for your content.
This is one of the easiest ways to communicate your message to your customers and fans.
Plot out what messages you want to communicate over the coming months, and break it down into monthly themes.
Then within that theme, what sub-themes do you want to highlight each week for your messaging.
This helps you to organize, plan and to wrap your brain around your content calendar.
So let’s give this a shot:
If you have an Outdoors Supply company, here’s a possible theme:
January: Winter Activities
Weekly Topics to focus on:
Week 1: Skiing
Week 2: Snowboarding
Week 3: Winter Camping
Week 4: Ice Climbing
Daily Topics for Posts Could Include:
Tools of the trade
Techniques
Motivation
Amazing outdoor images
Lifestyle
Tutorials
Community –Building
New Products
For the first week, you could create posts on best techniques for skiing, then you could have a post that would be motivational for a skier. We are just grabbing some daily topic ideas and overlaying the theme on them. Then just make sure you schedule your posts, and pay attention to the reactions.
You don’t have to stick to a rigid schedule, but planning it out in this way will give you clarity on your messaging, and will help you to see what topics resonate most with your audience.
Let me know how you go!
XOXO,
Amy
